Required Orientation

We normally only have two Recruit Training Classes per year, spring (April) and fall (September). The next session will be updated on our website on the Recruit Training page about one to two months prior to beginning orientations. These (mandatory) orientations are held over three weeks about two to three weeks before the Recruit Training starts.

Our unit is kept small for many reasons. One of which is we like to maintain about 25 to 35 actively attending Young Marines. Our normal Graduation is 8 to 15 Young Marines and our attrition level is around 5 to 10 kids a year. For this reason, we only have sessions twice a year. After Recruit Training we meet most every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and some Saturdays (which may include an overnight stay).

To be enrolled in the Young Marine Recruit Training, ALL parents and/or guardians, as well as the youth MUST attend one of the orientation meetings, (please notify Recruiting of your choice.) usually scheduled 30-60 days prior to the commencement of the recruit training. The purpose of the orientation is for the IDTVYM staff to have a formal chance to introduce the youth and adults to the Young Marine program and what to expect during the recruit training process, complete required admin forms, answer questions you may have about the Young Marine program, and to fit the new recruits for their respective uniforms. Which are ordered (after initial fee is paid) for wear at graduation.

All prospective Young Marines MUST HAVE a (sports type) physical completed prior to commencement of the recruit training. If a physical was done at the beginning of the current school year, please check with admin persons to see if this physical is acceptable.

All Orientations are held at Building 916, Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho on the following dates:

7 March 2012 1900 (7 pm) Orientation session 1

14 March 2012 1900 (7 pm) Orientation session 2

21 March 2012 1900 (7 pm) Orientation session 3

If you are unable to attend the orientation because of work schedule conflicts, please contact us so that we may discuss alternate arrangements with you.
